In October of 2024, Dr. Baldwin and her husband, Andrew, finally found the perfect home for Best Friends Animal Hospital in the Downtown Enterprise district of Chillicothe, Ohio.

Dr. Baldwin, who loves working with cats, dogs, and small exotics alike, graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She also received training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal remedies, and holistic modalities so she could provide a multi-faceted approach to veterinary medicine. While Dr. Baldwin enjoys using her knowledge to tailor care for all species, age-groups, and personalties, she has a special fondness for our senior pets and in making sure they’re living their best lives.

Dr. Baldwin understands the importance of communication and the very special relationship that a veterinarian forms not only with the pet, but with the client. The best of treatment plans aren’t effective where there is not mutual respect and understanding. Dr. Baldwin sees exceptional value not only in the doing, but in the why.

Finding a quiet niche so close to our downtown residence was worth every effort. Since October of 2024, we have been working closely with the city via the Zoning and Planning commission and City Council to permit Veterinary Offices as a conditional use in the Downtown Enterprise district so that we can offer exceptional veterinary medical care to to our beloved family pets who we hope will live the longest of healthy, happy lives.

Along the way, we’ve made a number of new friends and acquaintances who supported our endeavor. We thank each and every one of you, from those who attended one or many meetings to those who sent an email to the council representatives or stopped in to their offices to express their interest in diversifying the business offerings in the Downtown Enterprise district to include Veterinary Medicine: you are animal lovers, you are neighbors, you are family, you are individuals who want to see your city remain vital and thrive.

We have one step left - to apply to be the first veterinary practice in the Downtown Enterprise district using the building Dr. Schoonmaker has so kindly held onto for us since last year. We look forward to serving our community soon and thank you sincerely for your support and kindness.
